Bed & Breakfast

The Bed & Breakfast has three sections. The main house is a restored century old farm house, that holds its character and feels of “home”. Some have said, "We stepped back in time!". Much of the original woodwork is still in place; board ceilings and old style board doors. The rear wing is the host quarters and the front wing is the country kitchen.

The Ocean Haven property is almost 100 acres, stretching from the sea shore to the mountains. The “ocean” is the Gulf of St Lawrence between Cape Breton and PEI to the west, and Newfoundland to the Northeast. The St Lawrence is often referred to as the warmest waters north of the Carolinas. The “Highlands” are the hills where the Cabot Trail highway weaves its way around the Island through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. You are also at the mouth the famous Margaree River. The history of the Margaree Valley dates back to the late 1700’s.

	The Front Deck is is a great place to relax or watch the whales, a moose in the morning, or a hawk in the evening.
	Our property has good public access and the water is great for swimming. You can stroll the wharf and maybe chat with the fishermen. You can pick flowers in the fields; walk to the woods or hike up the mountain.

The Rooms

The Living Room	The Dining Room
The main Living Room is solely for guest use during the B&B season. It can be quiet if you want it to be but when guests gather, usually the laughter starts. You set the pace. Watch TV, tell stories, or have your evening glass.	We like our guests to relax and enjoy breakfast and the view. The menu varies, depending on the season you may enjoy some local berries. We try to provide a healthy breakfast so you may enjoy an omelet, French toast, a breakfast croissant, or pancakes or another specialty.

The Cranberry Room	The Sage Room
This main-floor room has a queen-sized bed with a view of the ocean and the Highlands. The ensuite bath has a tub and shower. The room was constructed and renovated to be a quiet space, including a large chair for relaxing.	The Sage room, on the upper floor, also has a queen size bed. It has a bath with a shower just next to the bedroom. Since it is the only room used on the second floor during B&B season, it offers privacy. It is quaint and quiet.
Environmental: Ocean Haven maintains a “no smoking“ environment; in keeping with potential allergens we also maintain pet free spaces. Our water is spring fed and tested by Nova Scotia Environment & Health.
Seasonal: Season Mid June to October. FANTASTIC for Fall colours, Salmon Fishing, or the Celtic Colors Festival. Reserve especially for July and August!!
